Wanna L. Day, 84, of Monroe City, IN, passed away April 6, 2016, at the Amber Care Center in Petersburg, IN.

Wanna was a member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church, and a 50+ year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed being with her family, mushroom hunting, being on the sailboat with her husband, and quilting. Wanna was a talented seamstress, having made her children’s clothes and formals through their school years, and had also sewn wedding dresses.

Wanna was born June 19, 1931, in Pike County, IN, the daughter of Robert and Olive (Frederick) Willis. Her parents; her son, Sam Day; her sisters, Ima Lou Schwoob and Nila Rose Woods; and a grandson, Eric Day, preceded her. 

On Sept. 10, 1949, she married her husband of 60 years, Sheldon Day, and he passed away on May 14, 2010.

Surviving are her daughters, Jody Day of Monroe City, IN and Mindy Wessel of Vincennes; grandchildren, Neal Day, Orion Day, Jennifer Parker and her husband, Ryan, and Jamie Rund, seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Marlene Naylor and her husband, Jim, of Columbus, IN, Beth Buchta of Columbus, IN, Clare Popp and her husband, Gary, of Otwell, IN; and her brothers, Robert “Dick” Willis of Greenfield, IN, DeWitt Willis and his wife, Donna, of Bedford, IN, James Willis of Otwell, IN, and Alva Willis and his wife, Ella, of Ft. Branch, IN.

Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, from 3:00 – 7:00, at Goodwin Funeral Home, and on Monday, from 9:00 – 10:00 at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. The funeral will be conducted on Monday, at 10:00, at the Walnut Grove Methodist Church, near Monroe City, IN. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
