Amos Jerome Gingerich

 

Amos Jerome Gingerich, 74, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in Washington, Indiana. He was born in Martin County, Indiana on November 22, 1941 to Henry and Tillie (Wagler) Gingerich. He took Esther Wagler to be his loving wife on February 20, 1960.

Amos was a member of the Elnora Church of Christ. He spent many years working at Peets Feed and Green City Cabinet. Amos liked to hunt mushrooms and enjoyed camping and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife, Esther Gingerich of Odon; two sons, James (Paula) Gingerich of Washington and Gary (Anita) Gingerich of Odon; three daughters, Linda (Robert) Lengacher of Montgomery, Susan (Brian) Smiley and Jennifer Cooper, both of Odon; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cletus Gingerich of Odon and Henry Gingerich, Jr. of Woodburn, IN; three sisters, Verda Wagler of Cannelburg, Leah Wagler of Florida and Rose Ann McDermed of Washington.

Amos was preceded in death by: his parents; four sisters, Viola Lengacher, Marie Stoll, Edith Gingerich and Sylvia Miller.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at the Simon J Graber Building in Odon with Dan Ford and Mark Wagler officiating. Amos will be laid to rest in the Bethel Mennonite Church Cemetery in Odon.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, April 1 and from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 2 at the Simon J Graber Building.
