She’s accused of defrauding taxpayers out of over $12,000. And now, 45-year-old Virginia Massey of Evansville has been arrested. Investigators say Massey submitted false mileage reimbursement claims while she was clerk of German Township in Vanderburgh County. Auditors went over her the claims and found she didn’t make the trips in her vehicle that she said she did, including visits to the City-County Building in Evansville on weekends when the offices were closed. Massey faces several felony charges including forgery, theft and official misconduct.
