Authorities report warrant and alcohol arrests, Council and plan commission meet for a joint meeting today concerning the I69 interchange area, Wal Mart to open a milk plant in Fort Wayne..

DAVIESS ARRESTS

-The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department arrested 31-year-old Jermaine A. Johnson of Evansville yesterday afternoon.  He was wanted on a writ of attachment. Bond was set at $500.

-57-year-old Dennis E. Killion of Washington was jailed after being charged with 2 counts of operating while intoxicated. Bond was set at $2000.  He was booked in at 9:29 last night.

 

 

ACCIDENT

-The Daviess County Sheriff’s Deparment responded to a one vehicle crash at Highways 57 and 58 yesterday morning at about 6:30-am.  One motorist complained of their ribs hurting.

 

 

INTERCHANGE MEETING

 

-The Washington City Council and Washington Plan Commission hold a joint meeting today concerning the I69 Exit 62 interchange. The meeting is open to the public with doors opening at 1:30.  It’s being held at the Antioch Christian Church on US 50 just east of the interchange.  There’ll  be presentation from 1:30 to 2:30 and again the doors open at 1.

 

 WAL MART MILK PLANT COMING TO FORT WAYNE

-Wal-Mart plans to build a multi-million-dollar milk processing plant on 80 acres of farmland south of Fort Wayne International Airport. A company spokesman tells the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette that $19 an hour will be the average wage for the more than 200 workers who are expected to be employed at the facility by the end of 2017.

 

INDY AIRPORT SCRAPS 500 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT

-The Indianapolis International Airport board has cancelled a proposed $500 million medical center and sports complex amid pressure from community leaders worried about the developer’s ability to pull off the massive project. The Indianapolis Business Journal reports the board unanimously rejected all proposals Friday for the unused 130 acres at the airport’s former terminal, and said it would start over.

LEANORD SENTENCED TO LIFE ON FRIDAY

– Bob Leonard, Jr. will be spending the rest of his life in prison. He was sentenced yesterday (Friday) in Fort Wayne after being convicted last month of murder, arson and insurance fraud charges. Leonard was accused of playing a role in blowing up his half-brother’s house in the Richmond Hill subdivision in Indianapolis in 2012. That explosion killed two next door neighbors and damaged more than 80 other homes. His half-brother, Mark Leonard, was also sentenced to life in prison in August.
