West Boggs Park has a new Park Superintendent. Jameson Hibbs, the former assistant to the late Mike Axsom has officially taken over the reins of running the park in Daviess and Martin Counties.
The Washington Times Herald says Hibbs has been with the park since August
He told the newspaper they are still in the process of working on a master plan but have lots of things he hopes to implement in the future. Currently work is being conducted on a play ground that is ADA compliant and upgrades and improvements to WI-FI at the park.
One goal is to not only keep the many visitors from around the state coming back, but also to offer more day to day amenities to attract locals to the park on a regular basis. A recent survey he said concluded that patrons want more wildlife and natural elements. He reminds everyone that fishing is back big time this year after 2014’s lake drain to rid the lake of the invasive and destructive gizzard shad.
One long term goal Hibbs says in an amphitheatre in the park for programs and concerts.
