Margaret E. Carlton, 87 formerly of Washington, IN passed peacefully with family in attendance and went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 21, 2016. She was born in Wabash County, IL to the late Charles Bradham and Irene (Siebert) Bradham.
Margaret was a 1945 graduate of Mt. Carmel IL. High School and a graduate of Lockyear Business College of Evansville. She was wed to Charles R. Carlton on November 3, 1951 and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2006. Charles was a former resident of Benton, IL. Margaret and Charles owned and operated Carlton Jewelry in Washington, IN. Margaret was a long-term member of First Baptist Church in Washington where she also worked in the nursery; she was also in the D’Aboy Circle of the Church. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and spending time with friends and lavishing devotion on her family.
Survivors include 2 sons; Jeffrey Carlton (Kathy) of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, Jim Carlton (Jenny) of Vincennes, Indiana and 3 grandchildren, Michelle Gardner (Ryan), David Carlton, and Jeremy Lee Carlton and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was also preceded in death by her sisters Helen Andrews, Carol Tarpley, and Coralee Gabart, and brother Leon Bradham.
Visitation will be at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut Street, Washington, IN 47501 on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 4-8. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Pete White at the funeral home on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10am with visitation one hour prior. Burial will be in the Masonic I.O.O.F.
