Virginia Ruth Sturgeon, 89, of Washington, IN went to her heavenly home on February 19, 2016. She was born on September 27, 1926 to Tom Jefferson and Rilla Pearl (Alsman) Stone. She attended Jefferson School. On July 20, 1946 she married Gerald Isaac Sturgeon. She worked at UniRoyal, Desley, Nasco, and worked a paper route for the Washington Times Herald. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church. She loved to read, work jig saw puzzles, and gardening.
Virginia is survived by her children Mary L. Jones (Alvin Corbin), Gerald I. Sturgeon Jr. (Angela K.), Terry Leigh Quackenbush (Ronald Gene), 7 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, brother Joe Stone of Louisiana, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband; son Larry Eugene Sturgeon; 4 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter; brothers Thomas Stone, Paul Stone, Dan Stone, David Stone; and sisters; Elsie Barbee, and Ester Dickman.
A funeral service will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at 1pm at Gill Funeral Home, 308 E. Walnut, Washington, IN 47501 with Pastor Phil Kessen Officiating.
