Freddie P. “Buddy” Dickey, 77, lifelong resident of Shoals, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Clarksville, Tennessee. He had resided at the facility since early January 2016. Born in Shoals, Indiana on January 9, 1939 in Shoals, Indiana he was the son of the late Fred and Martha (McDonald) Dickey.
Freddie married the love of his life, Wanda H Collins at the Shoals Christian Church on June 14, 1958.
Buddy graduated in 1957 from Shoals High School and the Indiana Barber College. He proudly served in the United States Army. Mr. Dickey was a barber in Shoals for many years, and retired as the supervisor of shipping at Perfect Fit Industries in Loogootee. He was a member of the Shoals American Legion Post #61 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2442.
Left to cherish his memory is wife, Wanda of Shoals; son, Steven P. Dickey, and his wife Claudia, of Bellbrook, Ohio; daughter, Tami Jo Hardey, and her wife, Donna of Clarksville, TN; grandchildren, Alea Mae, Tori Fay, and Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Madeline Rose, Camryn Mae, Kirsten, Adam, Kyle, Owen, and Charlotte; half-sister, Jewell Pridemore of Burns City; and half-brother, John Dickey of Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert Dickey, sisters, Shirley Allen and Dorothy Bough.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Shoals American Legion Post #61 will accord military graveside rites.
Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
