John Graber

John Graber, 97, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Saturday, January 2, 2016. He was born on June 16, 1918 in Daviess County, Indiana to Amos and Anna Graber. John married Verda Graber on October 3, 1948.

John was a member of the First Mennonite Church. He was a farmer and carpenter until retiring in 1980. John truly enjoyed gardening and sharing his produce with others.

Surviving include: four daughters, Shirley (Randall) Byrer of Odon, R. Fern (Norman) Fleenor of Goshen, Sandra (Charles) Mulvey of Solsberry and E. Dorene of Odon; two sons, Donald L. and Marc (Susan) Graber, both of Odon; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and one sister, Rosa Graber of Odon.

John was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Verda Graber (August 22, 2014); his son, Stanley Brian Graber; four brothers, Joe, Henry, Ben and Amos Graber; three sisters, Lydia Graber, Viola Lengacher and Ida Graber.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at the First Mennonite Church with Pastor Gaylan Sommers and Rev. Richard Smith officiating. John will be laid to rest in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at the church from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 5 and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 10:00 AM on Wednesday.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Helping Hearts Hospice, First Mennonite Church or John 15:12 in memory of John. Envelopes will be available at the church.
