Iva A. Lundy, 80, of Loogootee

Iva A. Lundy, age 80 years, died Sunday afternoon, January 3, 2016, at Memorial Hospital, Jasper, IN.

Mrs. Lundy was a longtime resident of Loogootee. She was born in Martin County, IN, on December 8, 1935 to parents, Lowell “Ted” and Mabel (Franklin) Bowman. She married Spencer D. Lundy on July 12, 1968 in Shawneetown, Illinois.

Mrs. Lundy was an active member of the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee. Iva served her church family as a greeter, religious teacher, and Euchristic minister. She has also been a member of the Daughters of Isabelle and the League of Mary, both through St. John’s church.

Mrs. Lundy retired in 2005 from teh St. Vincent DePaul Store in Loogootee. Mrs. Lundy started at the store in 1990. Prior to that she worked as an aid at a nursing home in Bedford, IN. Apart from work, Iva enjoyed western music and going to antique and flea markets. She was an ardent supporter of University of Kentucky basketball.

Mrs. Lundy is survived locally by her husband, Spencer, and two songs, Eric and Jason Lundy all of Loogootee, IN, and children; Tony, Carla, Kim, Gayle, and Jamie. She is also survived by six grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Also a sister, Joyce Bowman of Loogootee. Mrs. Lundy was preceded in death by her parents and three half brothers.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, at 10am at the St. John’s Catholic Church of Loogootee. Interment will follow in the St. John’s Cemetery, Loogootee, IN. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Lee Funeral Home in Loogootee.
