As local schools continue to wait for ISTEP scores amid the latest controversies and glitches, Barr Reeve School Superintendent Travis Madison told the Barr Reeve School Board that the state expects ISTEP to do too much.  He says it was designed years ago to measure a student’s knowledge and now it’s escalated…

 

 

Madison told the board last night that several superintendents discussed matters at the state school superintendent convention this week in Indy.  He told them Jasper’s School Superintendent is willing to head up a committee of local superintendents to take their knowledge, skills and ideas to state education leaders and lawmakers.  It an effort to address accountability issues aimed at making changes to current policies that Madison says have adversely affected schools, teachers and students.
