A Washington, Indiana man facing ten felony charges will ask for a change of venue.
The Princeton Daily Clarion reports that Daniel Moon, the court-appointed defense attorney for Washington, Indiana resident James Allen, says he plans to file for a change of venue from Gibson County. Allen is being held in the Gibson County Jail on ten felony charges stemming from the September crash on I-69 that killed two and injured 22 other passengers in the van he was driving. According to the report, the Gibson County Prosecutor’s office will oppose the venue change.
A hearing on the change request is scheduled for Jan. 6 in Judge Earl Penrod’s courtroom. Allen is scheduled to stand trial on April 25. Allen also faces at least three civil suits as a result of the crash.
