In another matter, Street Commissioner Ernie Evans made a recommendation to extend the yellow no parking lines in the area of West Walnut and West 9th.  He said some vehicles were parking so close to a truck exit that it’s hard for drivers to avoid contact with the parked vehicles.  The matter was tabled until notice of the change can be published.

Jim Greene

Retiring 5th District Councilman Jim Greene told the Council that in all likelihood Monday’s meeting would be his last.  He cited a serious illness in the family as the reason for stepping out early. He was set to retire from the council at the end of the year.  Greene  thanked the residents of his district for the honor and pleasure of serving on the City Council.  During his term, Greene was a force in Washington’s attempts to repair the 15th Street overhead bridge.  Greene’s successor is Sierra Deckard who won the 5th district city in the election earlier this month.
