A Daviess County woman died after a noon time accident on US 50 Tuesday.  It happened near the entrance to the Daviess/Martin Medical Clinic.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department says 79-year-old Elizabeth J. Nolan was a passenger in a car driven by her husband, 81-year-old George R. Nolan.  They were east on 50 on a Lincoln MKZ slowing to turn left into the clinic.  A 2007 Freightliner driven by 39-year-old Jerry Ray Patten of Lawrenceville, Illinois was also east.
Accident reports say the semi rear ended the car which skidded off the north side of the road and into the lawn of the clinic. The semi skidded off into a field.
Personnell from the clinic responded quickly and started CPR on Mrs. Nolan who was unresponsive and not beating just seconds after the crash.  She was taken to Daviess Community Hospital and pronounced dead there.  Mr. Nolan was taken to the hospital and later flown to St. Mary’s in Evansville with shoulder and other unknown injuries.
Patten, the semi driver was not injured. The truck belonged to Kevin Moore Trucking of Sumner, Illinois.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
