The Washington Times Herald reports that the Catholic Education Endowment recently received a generous bequest of $175,000 from the estate of the Rev. Robert Deig.  Deig died in March of last year.  He had retired in 2008 from the Catholic Diocese of Evansville where he’d served for nearly 60 years.

President Chris Jarrett said the generosity allows the local endowment to surpass the $2 million total asset mark for the first time in its 35-year history.  He also said it reflects the confidence Father Deig felt in the mission of Washington Catholic Schools to prepare students  academically and in their faith formation.
