Carl R. Tarvin, 79, of Odon, Indiana, went to Heaven surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Bloomington, Indiana. He was born on October 26, 1935 in Odon to Ray and Hazel (Marshall) Tarvin. He married his sweetheart, Freida R. Webster on September 9, 1961.

 

Carl was a US Army Veteran having served in Germany. He attended Pleasant Hill Community Church in Odon. Carl was employed as a truck driver for 27 years at Crane before retiring in 1992. He enjoyed his family, gardening, his lawn, fishing and most of all gospel music.

 

Survivors include: his wife, Freida Tarvin of Odon; daughter: Jennifer (Donnie) Holmes of Burns City; son, Tim (Angel) Tarvin of Franklin; grandchildren, Nicci (Marc) Andrews, Seth (Melissa) Miller, Lane Miller, Lily Tarvin, Madelyn Tarvin, Jeremiah Tarvin; step-grandchildren, Kelly and Lacey Holmes; five great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren ; two sisters, Lucy Eisenmann of Denton, TX and Sherrill (Bill) Wells of Linton.

 

Carl was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, Leroy Tarvin and two sisters, Barbara Tarvin and Grace Baird.

 

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Community Church in Odon with Pastor David Armstrong officiating. Carl will be laid to rest in Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon with military graveside services by the Odon VFW Post #9627.

 

Family and friends may call at the church from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, October 1 and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 2.

 

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in memory of Carl to Pleasant Hill Community Church in Odon or Children of the Promise Orphanage in Haiti. Envelopes will be available at the church.
