GiveIN Game will continue

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Fish & Wildlife Division will be continuing its venison donation program for the fifth year in a row. The program, called GiveIN Game, allows hunters to connect with those requesting donations of the deer meat, since venison is illegal to sell, barter or trade in Indiana. Michelle Cain with the DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife says GiveIN Game creates better access to venison for those who do not hunt or know a hunter personally. Cain notes that the program has been successful, and has about six donation recipients for every one hunter. She hopes that more hunters will participate in the program to help balance out the demand of venison. Hunters are still able to donate through food banks.
