Agnes Cameron “Ruby” Frye passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Washington state.

Ruby was born in Barrhead, Scotland, on Nov. 28, 1923, to parents Jean and Mac McCaig. Her most happy childhood memory was spending summers at the seaside in Scotland and going to church there with her grandparents. She was matriculated at Withington Girls School in Manchester, England, then passionately volunteered for the Royal Army Pay Corps in support of Britain during World War II.

Mother met the love of her life Richard Frye during World War II at a wartime dance in Manchester, England. Dad was a farm boy from Indiana serving his country in the U.S. 8th Air Corps. They were married at the end of the war in England then settled back home in southern Indiana where they were blessed with three children.

Mother was known for walking the four-mile “Horn” all four seasons with her beloved husband. She also loved swimming, golf and tennis. She was an enthusiastic member of Westminster and Emmanuel Presbyterian Churches. She enjoyed her Garden Club, Monday Afternoon Club, the Wine and Cheese Club, the Northshore Senior Center Poetry Group, and Bible study. She was an avid reader and especially liked books about Winston Churchill.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Richard. She is survived by her daughter Linda Avery (Tom), sons Richard Frye and Bailey Frye (Candy), and grandchildren Sarah Avery, Laura Stow (Chris), John Avery, Scott Frye (Annemarie), Emily Pendleton (Nate), and Daniel Frye, and a nephew, John Reiff. She also has three great-grandchildren, Noah Frye, Eden Frye, and Bailey Pendleton. Ruby is also survived by her sister, Morag Merica, sister-in-law, Louise Reiff, nephews Larry Frye and Theo Merica, nieces, Elizabeth Merica and Marilyn Lesher.

Mother was a true blue American and British patriot and a spirit-filled Christian. We will truly miss her. Donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church in Washington, Indiana, or the Northshore Senior Center in Bothell, Washington.

There will be a viewing from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Ed Lee Mortuary, followed by a graveside service at Sugarland Memory Gardens at 3:30 p.m.
