Turkey Trot Festival is designated a Legacy Project

The annual Turkey Trot Festival in Montgomery has been selected as one of Indiana’s Legacy Projects.

The Indiana Bicentennial Commission, which is charged with  charged with overseeing the planning and execution of a statewide celebration for Indiana’s 200th birthday next year, announced 50 Legacy Projects at their July meeting last week.

The Turkey Trot’s designation as a Legacy Project for the Bicenntennial is an official endorsement.  Projects are required to meet certain criteria which can include being culturally inclusive, creating a legacy for the future, being celebratory and engaging and inspiring youth and young adults.

The Turkey Trot, put on each year by the Montgomery Ruritans, is held the weekend after Labor Day.  It  features, turkey races, games, rides, live music, food and more.
