PACE to offer summer cooling help

pace-3

Pace Community Action Agency Inc. has about $40,000 to help new clients be more comfortable in their homes this summer.  That’s according to the Vincennes Sun Commercial.

Pace each year gets money from the state to help local qualifying residents heat their homes in the winter and, if there is any money left over, cool them in the warmer months as well.

Thanks to a rather mild winter, Susan Laughlin, a Pace client services manager, said more than $327,000 was left from the $1.5 million received for the annual energy assistance program.

Already $100 has been divvied out to each of the program’s current 3,300 clients, leaving about $40,000 left to help people new to the program.

The newpaper quotes Laughlin saying Pace will begin accepting new applications for its summer cooling program in the next week.

Laughlin said those who were approved for the winter heating assistance program were automatically approved for the summer program.

Interested summer applicants must fill out the proper paperwork with Pace and provide proof of income or Social Security payments. Applicants must also provide late utility bills and Social Security cards for everyone living in their homes.
