Vincennes University held a public forum Friday to discuss an increase in tuition and fees for the 2015- 2016 and 2016- 2017 academic school year.

VU plans on raising the cost of tuition by $200 starting this August. The cost will go up another $200 for the 2016 academic year.

Despite the 1.42% increase, Vincennes is still one of the most affordable residential schools in the state. President of Vincennes University Dr. Richard Helton says Vincennes is competing for students with other Indiana schools and it’s important for students to have access to an affordable education.

The expanded fees will be used to cover increasing operational costs.
