Office of Tourism and Office of Community and Rural Affairs awards Washington Grant Money

Indiana’s Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann announced yesterday, that The Indiana Office of Tourism and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, has awarded Washington, along with ten other Hoosier communities, funding for quality of place initiatives through the Place Based Investment Fund.   Each community will receive between $25,000 and $50,000

The City of Washington along with Daviess County Economic Development Corporation and the Daviess County Community Foundation will create Bicentennial Park in the downtown area.  The project will create an open air plaza and a brick event storage facility.  A covered walkway will be created by altering a building façade and additional lighting and landscaping will be added through the project.   Bicentennial Park.  will allow for additional events in the downtown area.

Other Hoosier communities receiving grants include Corydon, Evansville, Fountain City, Greenfield, Lafayette, North Manchester, Orleans, Peru, Rushville, and Winona Lake.
