Barbara L. Lewis, 81, of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, at United Methodist Village-North Campus. She was born July 3, 1933, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Emmett L. Cox, Jr. and Nina Rachel (Harris) Cox. She married Byron Roger Lewis on April 15, 1956, and he died August 11, 2011.
Barbara was a homemaker. She was a member of First Christian Church in Lawrenceville. Barbara graduated from University of Evansville. She was a 50+ year member of PEO and a Paul Harris Fellow with Rotary. She enjoyed playing piano for Rotary, going to see the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, flower gardening and was an avid reader.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents and her husband Roger.
Survivors include one son, Gregory C. (Sally E.) Lewis of Lawrenceville; two grandsons, Derek (Michelle) Lewis and Ryan (Ashley) Lewis; and eight great-grandchildren, Boston, Parker, Alivia, Piper, Trevor, Hannah, Hayley, and Jayden.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Wednesday at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Lawrence County Humane Society with envelopes available through the funeral home.
