As Washington skips today’s primary Election due to a lack of candidates,
it’s likely the majority of races this fall will also be unopposed, that’s
according to Daviess County Democratic Party Chairman Dave Crooks.
The party is struggling to find candidates to place on the November ballot.
Currently Democrats do not have candidates for Mayor, Clerk-Treasurer
and four of the seven City Council slots. The party can hold a caucus
before the end of June and place candidates on the fall ballot, however the
Chairman admits the party has had little luck finding candidates and the
local organization is even struggling to find citizens to serve as precinct
committee members. If you are interested in becoming a Democratic
candidate or a precinct committee member, or, just want to become
involved in the local party organization you are encouraged to attend the
next monthly meeting at 6:30pm, Tuesday, May 12th at the Washington
Eagles Lodge.
