A Saturday Night Abduction Turns Violent in Crawford County

A Saturday Night Abduction Turns Violent in Crawford County, Indiana:
Crawford County (Taswell): The abduction of a Warrick County woman Saturday night
in Chandler ended Sunday north of Taswell in Crawford County after the suspect
allegedly shot his victim and later took his own life.
Around 11:00 Saturday night, 36 year-old Tara N. Garland of Chandler, was taken at
gunpoint outside her Warrick County residence by 45 year-old Bradley R. Sease, of
Jeffersonville, IN, her former fiancé. After Sease abducted Garland, he ordered her to
drive to a rural area in Crawford County on Morgan Road, where he continued to hold
her at gunpoint.
Around 6:00 Sunday morning, Garland was able to get away from Sease and get into
her vehicle to attempt to drive off. Sease fired several shots at the vehicle, striking it
twice. One of the bullets entered the vehicle and traveled through the driver’s seat,
striking Garland in the back. Garland continued driving, eventually stopping at a
residence on Highfill Chapel Road. She told the resident what had happened, who in
turn dialed 911 to get Garland help.
Troopers with the Indiana State Police and Deputies with the Crawford County Sheriff’s
Department responded to the area. After gaining preliminary information about the case,
they began to search for Sease. Sease was located a short time later near where the
vehicle had been parked overnight with what investigators believe was a self inflicted
gunshot wound. An autopsy is to be performed on Sease.
Garland was airlifted to University of Louisville Hospital where she is currently listed in
serious but stable condition.
