William Scott Dye, 59, passed away on Friday at 1:32 a.m. at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1955, in Washington, to Patsy (Hitchcock) Dye and the late Henry W. Dye. Survivors include his mother, Patsy Dye of Shoals; one brother, David (Lu Ann) Dye of Shoals; and two sisters, Karen Dye of Shoals and Susan Dye of Evansville. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry W. Dye.

Scott was a member of the Shoals United Methodist Church where he served as a church trustee and was a member of the Methodist Men. For 38 years he worked at Red Door Industries of Martin County and served on the Daviess-Martin County board of directors for Four Rivers Resource Services. His work at the Red Door included working at the Shoals Fire Department, JayC Food Store in Shoals, Loogootee and Washington, and volunteering at the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Scott was an honorary firefighter for the Shoals Fire Department for 20 years. He was a manager for Little League baseball and All Star tourney teams for many years and the Shoals Junior High basketball this past year.

Scott rarely met a stranger. He loved attending sporting events and was a supporter of the Shoals Jug Rox, Barr-Reeve Vikings and Loogootee Lions. He enjoyed watching and listening to the IU Hoosiers, Indiana Colts and the Indiana Pacers.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shoals United Methodist Church, with viewing from noon until the hour of service. Pastors Joseph Seger and Delbert Stoll will officiate the service. Burial will be in Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shoals United Methodist Church or Shoals Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
