Plans to fix deadly southwest Indiana intersection to be released

231-and-62-combined

Indiana Department of Transportation officials plan to announce how they plan to improve a deadly southwestern Indiana intersection.

The intersection of U.S. 231 and Indiana 62 has been the site of four fatal collisions since 2011, when U.S. 231 was widened to four lanes.

The Evansville Courier & Press reports transportation officials will unveil their newest plan to fix the intersection on April 30 at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City. Changes had already been made in 2012, but local officials and family members of crash victims had urged the state to take another look.

The intersection is located in Spencer County near Lincoln City.  Currently, east and westbound traffic at that intersection have stop signs, while U.S. 231 traffic does not stop.
