Ernest J. Bradley, 90, passed away Tuesday at his home.

He was born March 30, 1925, in Loogootee, to the late Leo and Letha (Queen) Bradley.

Ernie was a 1944 graduate of Montgomery High School. In October 1944, Ernie joined the U.S. Navy and served for two years. After his time in the service he went to work at Crane in boiler operations. He worked at Crane until his retirement in January 1988. Ernie was a lifelong farmer.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Generations and St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and an avid IU basketball fan.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Letha (Queen) Bradley; sisters Louise Ward, Agnes Hauser and Inez Bradley; and his brother, John Bradley.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise “Dude” (Summers) Bradley of Loogootee; daughters, Susan (Steve) Dequeant of Arlington, Texas, Cynthia (Jim) Wilmes of Jasper, and Karen (Seth) Burris of Bedford; sons, Randy (Marsha) Bradley of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Allan (Marjorie) Bradley of Loogootee and Doug (Becky) Bradley of Loogootee; grandchildren, Beth and Geoff Bradley, Alyssa Dequeant and Caroline and Catherine Wilmes; great-grandchild, Grace Bradley; sisters, Mary Jane Ryan, Stasia Padgett, Ruth James, Irene Zins and Clara Bradley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Loogootee, officiated by Rev. J. Kenneth Walker. Burial will follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee.
