Mary Jane Colbert

Mary Jane Colbert, 76, Washington, passed away Saturday at 1:15 a.m. at Loogootee Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born May 2, 1938 to Michael and Mary (Fegan) Steiner in Montgomery.

Mary Jane was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, a 1956 graduate of Montgomery High School and attended Tri-State Beauty College. She worked at Wright Beauty Shop, Kids Konnection Daycare and was a member of RSVP, having received the Volunteer of the Month award for October 2004.

She is survived by her sister, Anne Arvin of Loogootee;  one brother, Dan Steiner of Loogootee and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 49 years, Larry D. Colbert, who passed away April 13, 2008; her parents; brothers, John “Jack” H. Steiner, Charles Steiner, and James Steiner; and sisters Joan Steiner and Dorothy Hagerty.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Ed Lee Mortuary with wake services at 3:30 p.m.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father Gordon Mann as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery.
