Odon Council discusses grant funding

The Odon Town Council made no decision this week on raising waste water rates in order to qualify for another half million dollars in grant money.

The Odon Journal reports that Rhonda Rumble with the Southern Indiana Development Corporation told the council that they could qualify for another $500,000 in grant money from the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs if the minimum sewage bill was $45 per month.  The current minimum is $28.50 per month.  She said the town already qualifies for a $450,000 grant but the extra money could be sought if the rate was increased and in place by May 29th.  Rumble explained that the rate is going up and a partial increase could be made now.  After some discussion no decision was made as one of the board members was absent from the meeting.
