With spring and summer approaching, the Washington Street Department reminds us that when using a contractor for tree trimming and cutting there are proper guidelines to follow.
The guidelines are listed under Ordinance No. 98.05 of the Washington Code of Ordinance. The hired contractor mus get a permit from the proper city department before starting their job. In addition all cleanup and removal of limbs and debris from a site must be done by the contractor not by the city. If the contractor does not clean up and remove debris, the landowner is responsible.
