Weather causes crashes

A semi jacknifed on State Road 57 south of Washington this morning.

 

It caused traffic to back up in the north and southbound lanes starting right around the junkyard to the Veal Creek Theatre area.  The road was closed for about 45 mintues and reopened about 7:40. There were no injuries.

     The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department log shows slide offs Wednesday afternoon and evening at State Road 257 and US 50, on 57 at Albright’s, two crashes on 231, one on South Horrall Road and others on Highway 50 near Washington and State Road 58 at Odon.

Meanwhile across Indiana,

  State Police  responded to reports of 99 Property Damage and 24 Personal Injury crashes, plus response to 116 vehicles that slid off the road and an additional 158 responses to assist motorists with traffic/weather related problems.There was one reported fatality crash that occurred in Hendricks County, around 7:20 Wednesday, at State Road 59 and County Road 200 North.On I-64 in Vanderburgh County, the west bound lanes were closed yesterday due to different crash scenes at the 12 and 18 mile markers.  The lanes were closed well into the the evening.
