Authorities searched a home in Sandborn for the remains of the owner.
Fire units from five different departments responded to a house fire across the road from the Blue Jay Junction around 9 pm Wednesday.
EMA Responder Tom Houghland says the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
Houghland says the State Fire Marshall’s office has been called into investigate and cadaver dogs have been brought in to search through the debris.
It was initially thought that there was no one in the house but efforts to locate the homeowner were unsuccessful.
Authorities are not releasing the name of the homeowner at this time.
Firemen from Sandborn, Edwardsport, Vigo Township of Bicknell and Lyons and Linton worked together in fighting the fire. They remainded on the scene until 3 this morning putting out hot spots.
