DCH reaching out to Vets

           Recently there’ve been reports concerning timely care for Veterans through the Veterans Administration.  
             A recent audit of VA hospitals and clinics nationwide has found that nearly 275 Indiana patients are still waiting for initial appointments at facilities in Indianapolis and northern Indiana 90 days or more after requesting them.
                The audit also found that more than 230 others in Indiana who enrolled in the VA health care system over the past 10 years have never received appointments.
            Daviess Community Hospital is letting vets now that the hospital has reached out to local Veteran’s organizations as well as representatives of the Indianapolis VA Medical Center, Marion VA Medical Center, and the Vincennes VA Clinic. DCH is attempting to implement a process that allows Veterans to receive care locally through non-VA providers.
            CEO David Bixler is his letter to vets across the region says be assured that Daviess Community Hospital is moving as quickly as possible to provide services. As more information becomes available he says he’ll communicate to the local Veteran’s organizations along with various media outlets.
            In the meantime, Bixler says if any Veteran is in need of an urgent service available at DCH, call (254-2760 ext. 1160) and they will attempt to expedite your care.
