Daviess County Community Foundation Awards $3,990 in Grants for Women and Girls Projects

The Daviess County Community Foundation recently awarded $3,990 in three grants to charitable projects that will positively influence the lives of women and girls in Daviess County.

In February, charitable organizations were invited to apply for funding during the Community Foundation’s 2014 Spring Women’s Fund grant cycle.  Notification was made to organizations in May.

Grant awards were presented on June 4 to Washington Community Schools, the Pregnancy Care Center, and the Southwest Indiana Power House for the three different Daviess County projects.  The “Girls Need Science Too” project to be conducted by Washington Community Schools is designed to build interest in the different areas of STEM education in girls at North Elementary.  The “Girls with Grit Lock In” conducted by Power House provided an evening for 35 new and current students to connect with alumni and volunteers while sharing in fun activities and meaningful messages.  The “Sleep Safe” project to be conducted by the Pregnancy Care Center will provide a safer sleep environment for babies served by the agency through the appropriate use of playards.
