Deputy Wounded, Suspect Shot in Jackson County

           A Jackson County, Indiana deputy is in an Indianapolis hospital after being shot in an exchange of gunfire with suspects Thursday. 
          Authorities say they have arrested two suspects in the shooting.  The deputy also wounded one of the suspects while returning fire.
          Jackson County Sheriff Mike Carothers says the De[puty Rick Meier was shot from ambush while responding to a suspicious persons report Thursday evening in the southern Indiana town of Tampico, near Seymour.
          Sheriff’ Carothers says the deputy received wounds in the shoulder and chest area, but was able to return fire and wounded the second suspect.  Carothers says both suspects are in custody. 
          The deputy, who was not named, is expected to survive his wounds.
