Indiana County Health Ratings Rank Daviess County 50th, Knox is 82

The new county health rankings are out for the State of Indiana, and Daviess County ranks 50th out if the Hoosier State’s 92 counties.  The rankings are compiled by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. They are based on data from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, which it collects from state health departments and allows counties to see how well they are doing on 29 factors that influence health. Things that are looked at include smoking rates, obesity rates, high school graduation rates, and access to fast food restaurants.  Here in Southwest Indiana, Dubois County made the top ten at number six.  Gibson County ranked 35th, Daviess County ranked 50th, Pike County was 67th, Martin was 71, Greene was at 74, and Knox at 82. Sullivan County was at 85.  The Rankings rate overall health for all 92 Indiana counties by using a standard formula to measure how healthy people are and how long they live.
