Former State Rep Passes Away......

A former Southern Indiana State Representative died Monday.
Jerry Denbo of French Lick passed away Monday at home of natural causes.
Denbo served 17 years in the state legislature from 1990 to 2007 when he resigned.
The Greene County Daily World says at the time of his retirement he held the position of assistant majority caucus chairman, and had held a Democratic Party leadership position for 13 years in the legislature.
Denbo authored legislation making it legal to post the Ten Commandments in public buildings in Indiana.  It was the first law of its kind in the country.
Denbo received dozens of awards, including the  "Defender of Freedom Award" from the National Rifle Association; the "Indiana Citizen of the Year" award from the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians; Organized Labor's "Legislator of the Year"; and the Indiana American Legion's legislative recognition.
Services are Thursday in French Lick.
