The fraternity was already on alcohol violation probation when university officials asked that the national office investigate the chapter.
National fraternity CEO Wynn Smiley said that IU chapter members denied knowing about hazing rituals and didn't acknowledge a low chapter grade point average. He said some members had an attitude that the fraternity's purpose was to be "party central."

Democratic House Speaker Patrick Bauer of South Bend decided last week to put the House in recess until Wednesday because he said Senate Republicans weren't negotiating in good faith.
Democrats who control the House and Republicans who control the Senate remain at odds over a bill that would delay an increase in taxes that employers pay into the state's unemployment insurance fund.
Bauer met privately with Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels on Wednesday in hopes that he would help facilitate a compromise.

STATE POLICE WARN AGAINST PHONE SCAMS

DLC MEDIA AND VU NEWSCENTER

The Indiana State Police reminds all Hoosiers to ensure they verify phone and door to door solicitors who are collecting funds for charitable organizations.
Sgt. Todd Ringle with the Evansville State Police post says State Police and many other police agencies across the state have received complaints from residents and businesses concerning solicitors who implied they have an association with the State Police or other police agencies.

Ringle says If an individual claims to be with a specific law enforcement agency, request a name and number of an official within that agency who can verify the solicitor’s status
You should also verify the name of the organization to include their address, phone number and the identity of the caller or the person at your door step
