3/13/08 Update
Due to the high demand for our webacast for Hatchet sports, we have teamed up with RTC Communications in Montgomery Indiana to increase our streaming capability five times! You may notice a difference when you try to access the web stream. When you click on the Listen Live link, you will be taken to a page labeled "SHOUTcast D.N.A.S. Status" page. Click the "Listen" link. If you are asked to save a file called "listen.pls", save it to your desktop. Once the file has saved, double click that link. You may be asked to associate that file with a program. The different recommended players are listed below. Most Windows users will want to choose WinAmp from your list of choices. If WinAmp is not listed as a choice, make sure you have downloaded that program. A link to download WinAmp is below.
As of 1/14/08, WAMW has changed the way we are handling our webcast. We are now utilizing a service known as SHOUTcast. What does this mean to you? Basically, it is a different way to do the same thing. It also means you may have to download an additional program in order to listen to WAMW broadcasts that are made available for Internet streaming. Basically Washington Hatchets sports and locally originated programming [Swap Shop, Dave Crooks Show etc...]. Listeners tune in to SHOUTcast broadcasts by using a player compatible with streaming MP3 audio. Users can visit the SHOUTcast directory to locate a stream they'd like to listen to. Search for 'WAMW' or 'Hatchets'. Once you locate our stream, click 'Tune In'. Note - The webstream will only show using this method when the webstream is active.
Windows users should use Winamp
Mac users should use iTunes.
Linux/X Windows users should use XMMS.
Without one of the above players you may not be able to listen to the WAMW webstream.
Help! I get audio skipping when I listen!
Answer: Your connection to the Internet is too slow to handle the amount of data
that particular SHOUTcast station is sending. Try looking through the SHOUTcast
directory for stations with a lower value in the bitrate column. You can also
select your connection type on the SHOUTcast directory (modem, DSL, etc.) and
the directory will present stations most likely to work on your type of connection.
I'm having problems tuning in with RealPlayer
Answer: RealPlayer does not support the full gamut of SHOUTcast stations. For optimal listening, download and install the Winamp audio player for Windows
(http://www.winamp.com) or one of the other recommended players listed above.
I've installed Winamp but RealPlayer keeps stealing SHOUTcast. How do I get Winamp to play SHOUTcast tracks?
Answer: RealPlayer is more aggressive at positioning itself than Winamp for
control of streaming media. The problem is RealPlayer performs poorly at
tuning in SHOUTcast channels. The solution is to disable Real's SmartCenter
by right-clicking on the real icon in your system tray (bottom right hand
corner of the Windows screen) and select Disable Smartcenter. Install the
latest version of Winamp once you've done this, and Winamp will have control
of the stations again.
If you are still experiencing problems with the webstream, e-mail Andy Morrison.
No matter how you listen, thanks for listening to WAMW!
