Flood watches and warnings in effect

The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch in affect today through tomorrow afternoon.

A prolonged period of rain, possibly heavy at times is expected in the wath area. The watch affects, Daviess, Knox and Martin Counties.

One and a half to to two and a half inches of rain is possible by tomorrow afternoon which could lead to flooding of lying and poorly drained areas.

Meanwhile, a flood warning for the White River at Edwardsport continues.  The river there is expected to rise above the 15 foot flood stage and be at 19 feet by Sunday evening.  At that level, 358 between Edwardsport and Plainville could flood.

Also at Petersburg, a flood warning is in effect, the river there is above the 16 foot flood stage and is forecast to crest at 23 feet Monday night.  There’ll be extensive flooding of farm ground and rural residential areas and roads including Bottoms Road and Brothers Road and East Governor Road.  It will also affect Dodge City.
