County Commissioners accept 2021 paving bids, talk 900 E Project, and discuss tax deferral

The County Commissioners met on Tuesday for their regular session. During the meeting, the commissioners approved 2 of 4 2021 paving bids and also approved a bid of the for the 15th street property totaling $13,800.

Phil Cornelius, with the Highway department, provided an update on the 900 East project. He said that they had 10 parcels left of 52 and that things are continuing to move along smoothly.

In other business, Kellie Streeter gave an update on the Daviess County Covid-19 preparedness and said that they were still looking into purchasing Ultra Violet disinfecting lights. She said they are continuing to look into the total costs and would have more details at the next meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the commissioners agreed to discuss with the mayor about appointing a Flood Plain Administrator to assist with certain duties. There was also some discussion about the tax deferral which would put a pause on payroll taxes. These taxes would still have to be paid at a later date. The Commissioners passed a motion to keep payroll taxes as is and said they would continue paying payroll taxes as they always have.
