Basketball uniforms

This is the 1927-28 basketball uniform of Katie Fitzgerald, Washington High School. In her yearbook she is described as “one of our seniors who likes slang, lipstick, basketball, and gum.” In the 1920s girls basketball was only played by around 50 schools in Indiana  and used a special set of rules such as certain players only playing on one end of the court. The Great Depression eliminated most of these programs, and there would not be an official state tournament until 1976. Courtesy of Daviess County Historical Society. Visit them for more information.
