It was 37 years ago this week that ground was broken for the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington. Arlington National Cemetery.  It was two years ago that President Trump signed the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017. The act officially recognizes March 29 as National Vietnam War Veterans Day.  This Friday is the 29th.  The Act also includes the day among those days on which the US flag should especially be displayed.

Saturday, the Washington VFW is having a special ceremony to honor Viet Nam Vets.  Leslie Heshelman with the VFW says it won’t be a long ceremony but hopes it means something to those who attend…

Heshelman says the program is open to family and friends and there will be a free meal afterwards. She says most vets will have to be invited to come by family and friends as they won’t attend on their own feeling they don’t need the recognition.  The special Viet Nam Vet Recognition Ceremony at the Washington VFW is Saturday at 5pm at the upstairs hall.
