Inmate Escapes Custody in Dubois County Thursday Morning

An inmate escaped custody in Dubois County, Thursday morning.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department reports that Dubois County inmate Nick Kreilein had appeared in court as the result of charges of fraud on a financial institution, theft, drug possession, and being an habitual traffic offender. After his court appearance, Kreilein and another inmate were being escorted out of the courthouse. While leaving the building, Kreilein ran from the transportation officer. While the officer was securing the other inmate in a police vehicle, Kreilein, disobeyed orders to stop, kicked off his shoes, and fled west on Newton Street in Jasper. Dubois Sheriff’s Deputies and Jasper Police Officers responded to the area and apprehended Kreilein at the corner of Clay and 5th Street in Jasper. Kreilein now faces addition charges of Escape, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Theft.
