Special meeting held in Odon on recent audit

Odon Town Council members and the Town Clerk/Treasurer addressed the public last night at a special meeting called to explain the recent town financial audit by the state which found discrepancies.

The Washington Times Herald reports the meeting started out with the town officials, re-iterating and dispelling rumors.  They told the public there is no criminal investigation and no town council member had been asked to resign or planned to resign.

The council then answered questions concerning how penalties imposed by the state would affect the town’s credit.  Treasurer Haseman also explained that late bill payments were not because the town did not have the money to pay, but rather money not getting to its designation on time.

The meeting lasted over an hour.
