Doyle Elliott, 77, of Loogootee, passed away at 2:20 p.m. Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society – Northwood in Jasper.

He was born April 28, 1941 in Whitfield, Indiana to the late Clarence and Ada (Doyle) Elliott.

Doyle was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the St. Martin Men’s Club. He loved playing cards and antique cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Ada (Doyle) Elliott; sisters, Naomi (Rocky) Walters, Martha (Merrill) Wolford; brothers, Clarence Jr. (LaVon), Carl (Marie), Curt, Fred, Norbert, and Larry Elliott; brother-in-law, Bob VanWinkle.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Rita Joan Mattingly, who he married June 22, 1963; daughter, Judith Anne (Chris) Wininger of Canton, South Dakota; grandchildren, Bryce (Kaitlin) Wininger of Harvest, Alabama, Mercedes Wininger of Odon, Jayce (Kaitlin) Wininger of San Antonio, Texas, Tiana and Alexia Wininger of Canton, South Dakota; great-grandchildren, Keely and Kara Wininger, Karsyn and Aryia Wininger and Evelyn Nora Wininger; siblings, Donna VanWinkle of Loogootee, Tony (Debbie) Elliott of Indianapolis, Mike (Vonda) Elliott of Loogootee; sisters-in-law, Irene Elliott and Georgia Elliott, both of Loogootee, Mary Elliott of Harrison, Indiana, Thelma Elliott of Wilmington, Ohio, Patricia Tow of Fishers, Alberta Turner of Indianapolis, and Bonnie Tennis of Washington; brother-in-law, Tim (Eleanor) Mattingly of Montgomery.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 15, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at St. Martin Catholic Church in Whitfield and Saturday, March 16, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until the of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
