A Loogootee woman pled not guilty to charges of animal cruelty and neglect in Martin County Court Thursday.

Last week, Julia Arney was arrested after 72 dogs, along with horses, donkeys and mules, were found living in an unsanitary situation at her property in Loogootee . 20 of the dogs were ill with parvovirus…four have since died. Arney admitted to officers that the animals were hers and that she had become overwhelmed with the situation.
At Thursday’s hearing, Arney’s bail was set at $20,000, with the stipulation that if she is released she is not to have any animals in her care.
A trial is scheduled to begin June 18.
