Betty L. Norris, 70, passed away on January 10, 2019 at her residence. Betty was born on August 14, 1948 in Daviess County the daughter of Walter “Juke” and Dorothy (Hunter) Crouse. She married Glen Norris on January 31, 1970 and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2004.

Betty was a graduate of Barr Reeve High School and earned her master’s degree in Education from Indiana University. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church and taught at Washington Junior High School for twelve years. Betty then opened Small World Preschool and Daycare in 1981 and owned and operated that until 1998. Betty was a forty- year member of the Classical Club and a member of the Monday Afternoon Club, Daughters of Isabella, Daviess County Community Foundation Womens Fund where she served on the grant committee for many years and the Wednesday Book Group at the Carnegie public Library. She was an avid reader, loved all Hatchet teams, IU basketball, Pacers, Colts and Reds. Betty also enjoyed puzzles, solitaire, had a green thumb for flowers and enjoyed her grandchildren and the activities they participated in.

Survivors include her daughters, Jessica Veale and her husband Bryan of Washington, Ashley Norris of Indianapolis; sisters, Marsha Titus and her husband Tim of Cherry Hill, NJ, Janet Hembree and her husband Kenny of Montgomery, Barbara Watt and her husband Mike of Katy, TX; grandchildren, Zachary, Eli and Charlotte Veale. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband Glen Norris, brother Doug “JD” Crouse and an infant brother Joseph Eugene Crouse.

Friends may visit with Betty’s family on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State Street Washington from 4-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church celebrated by Rev. Paul Ferguson. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to assist Betty’s grandson Eli (Eli’s MVP’s) with his ongoing medical needs as he battles congenital heart defects and other health issues. Checks need to be made payable to Bryan or Jessica Veale and can be sent to Goodwin-Sievers Funeral Home, 2020 State St., Washington, IN 47501. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home also.
