Donald “Don” L. Ellis

Donald “Don” L. Ellis, age 85, of Washington, passed away at on Monday, November 19, 2018 in Washington.

He was born on May 23, 1933 in Burn City, Indiana to Orlief F. and Julia (Tittle) Ellis. He graduated from Odon High School in 1951. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War and later had worked at Greenwood Hardware for over twenty years. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by wife, Carol (Sweeney) Ellis, whom he married May 29, 1960; son, Terry (Teresa) Ellis of Washington; daughter Martha (Keith) Wampler of Bicknell; four grandchildren, J.D. Ellis, Kacey Ellis, Dylan Ellis and D.J. Wampler; three great-grandchildren, Hadley Ellis, Madeline Ellis and Amelia Ellis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Barbara Kester, Leota Ellis, Martha Sue Ellis and brother, John Ellis.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Sugarland Memory Garden. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12 Noon, Saturday at Ed Lee Mortuary North Chapel, 620 E Viola Ave, Washington, Indiana. Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the Washington American Legion and VFW.
